Perisher X Country (PXC) is all about promoting the activity of Cross Country Skiing so that one of the best-kept secrets around is not a secret anymore. Please encourage everyone to go to the PXC website (Contact Us page) and subscribe to PXC NEWS, PXC EDGE and daily XC Trail Reports during winter. PXC News is focused on the activities of volunteers and those who have a keen interest in helping grow the sport of XC skiing. PXC is a sub-committee of the northern division of Snow Australia and aims to grow participation in XC skiing in Perisher Valley and beyond.
THE NORDIC SHELTER IS OPEN AGAIN, MOSTLY - and OTHER NEWS
This winter has been a challenging one and we are still only one third through it. Early snow, but limited cover, has made it difficult for snow grooming. What we have had, we have utilised fully. Thanks to snow grooming management (Geraldine) and to Dan the Groomer for doing a great job.
The threat of COVID-19 has made the management of access to the Nordic Shelter complex as NSW Health Orders and Snow Australia requirements must be complied with. The Nordic Shelter committee has done a great deal of work to develop practical and compliant operating standards.
The Shelter has been operating recently at Level 2 – access only to toilets. The next move up is Level 2.5 (inside shelter, storage shelves and the kitchens for access to water, byo cups, bottles and pre-prepared food).
To achieve this, we need volunteers to act as COVID-19 Marshals at the entrance of the Nordic Shelter. Without enough volunteers we will have to revert-back to Level 2 access.

Complete the Doodle registration to for your choice of one-hour time slot between 8 am to 3 pm, starting 16/7/21 (Friday) and ending on the 25/7/21 (Sunday). If still required, we will set up another scheduling system to account for dates after the 25/7/21.
As a skiing community we can all do our bit to make sure that the Nordic Shelter door has a Covid-19 Marshal present. It is up to all of us to put our hands up to volunteer an hour here or there to get the Nordic Shelter open.
Final note: Thank you for all those who helped man the BBQ last weekend. Without your help this service and the fundraising opportunity for the Nordic Shelter can’t be provided.
