JOY, WORK PARTIES AND MORE

XC WORK/PARTY #3:

2025 XC Work Party #3 – 9am Saturday and Sunday 1-2 March. Work will continue on Monday and Tuesday for any workers who are available.

Thank you to all who joined in the February XC Work Party - Bridge construction continued -

The younger work partiers took part in special environmental activities before they prepared the BBQ lunch and then threw themselves into a job that will please all those taking part in competition next winter – making new hi-vis trail-marking flags. 

The groundwork is laid for the next section of water-mitigation bridges on the XC trails and assistance is needed to get this section well underway. There will also be trail work and Nordic Shelter maintenance happening.

Jjoin the XC Work Party crew for a rewarding and sociable weekend. Overnight accommodation in Perisher is available for all XC Work Partiers, generously provided by Canberra Alpine Club.

As usual: If you can attend all or part of the March 1-2 Weekend Work Party #3 and/or the extra weekdays, contact Peter Ward (nswxc1@gmail.com). Bring gum boots, work gloves, PPE, work clothes for any weather, march fly defence, lunch and snacks. The hot water urn, sandwich press, microwave, coffee and tea are available at the Shelter.

If you require accommodation, please contact Margaret Mahoney (margmahoney61@gmail.com). Bring bed linen, towels and food/drink for meals – the shared dinner on Saturday night is always an interesting social occasion.

Please pencil in these weekend XC Work Party dates over the summer.

• #5. May 17-18 2025 (+ extra weekdays)

All XC Work Parties will be confirmed prior to these dates.

The Nordic Shelter is facing significant increases in running costs, especially building insurance.
